hi my name is Melody and i have a dog named Snoopy so i love this one.

i have autism. i am a advocate and supporter of others who are on the spectrum. i also help parents and others understand autism better. i have been asked on several occassions to speak to groups about autism and my life with it. i have written many poems (one was published in an autism magazine) and i am writing my own book about my life. i also created clubs for kids through adults that are also on the spectrum of autism. i go to college and i am majoring in psychology. i was told i would never enter college much less graduate.

I love that avatar too and dogs as well. But currently, I'm just a cat owner.

Wow, you sure seem to be proving the nay-sayers wrong as do many people with autism. You are one active person and it sounds like you are doing amazing things to educate the public about autism.

So happy to have you as our newest member!

Welcome Melody!! It is great to have you here. It sounds like you have accomplished a lot. You are like the ultimate professional on Autism LOL. I am sure you will have a lot to contribute here. 8-)

I love hearing success stories. It gives those of us with kids a nice feeling to see that all our hard work can really pay off in the end. My daughter is ADHD, but the psychologist thinks now that the DX was wrong & she may actually have NVLD. She also has a pretty severe math LD. She'll be b16 this summer & she just said to me the other day (while I was helping her with drivers ed homework) "I don't know why I'm doing this, I'll never be able to drive". I told her she has to stop thinking that way because although it may take her a bit longer than her peers, she CAN & WILL be able to do whatever shew sets her mind to. And here you are, living proof that hard work & perseverance pay off!
